Tiny Seeds With Explosive Health Benefits

Tiny Seeds With Explosive Health Benefits

If your like me the first time I ever heard the word Chia, was the Chia pet commercials advertised on television. I often wondered since I started eating Chia seeds if it was the same seeds used in those Chia Pets and yes they were.

The Chia seeds were a prized food used by the Aztecs and Mayans. These tiny seeds were known for the great source of energy they provided. “Chia” is the ancient Mayan word for strength.

Chia Seeds are a tiny seeds with explosive health benefits. Chia seeds are one of natures richest antioxidants. One of the many benefits of antioxidant rich foods is slowing down the signs of ageing.

Many of us could stop with that, right?  Antioxidants also may play a role in disease prevention such as cancer and heart disease among providing many other health benefits.

Chia seeds are an excellent source of fiber providing 11 grams per once. High fiber diets may protect against type 2 diabetes as fiber is essential for balancing insulin levels.

If you are looking for nutrient dense foods to add to your diet for your weight loss goals Chia seeds are a simple addition.

They keep you feeling full longer, therefore may help with your appetite. Chia seeds are also a great source of plant based protein and can replace some of the nutrients lost in exercise, in addition to preventing dehydration.

Chia seeds are not only noted to help boost metabolism, but may help reduce belly fat as well. They can help regulate bowel movements and promote healthy stool.

A surprise to me was finding out that Chia seeds contain more omega-3 fatty acids than salmon and the best part is they are so easy to add to your diet! Omega 3’s can help lower blood pressure, bad cholesterol, and reduce inflammation.

Consuming a diet high in plant based foods is noted for reducing the risk of disease and supporting overall health.

Chew Your Way To Better Health!

Chew Your Way To Better Health

Do you know how important chewing your food is for your health? If you are like most people you may have never thought about it. With millions of Americans having digestive issues, it is a subject worthy of looking at.

I know you want to feel your best and treat your body right, right? By paying attention to this one simple thing, you can chew your way to better health!

Chewing your food is the first part of your digestive process. As you chew you break the food down into smaller particles that makes digestion easier. Think about chewing each bite between 10 times for softer foods and up to 30 times for vegetables or meats.

Having the food broke into smaller particles makes it easier to absorb nutrients from your food and prevents the improperly digested food from entering your bloodstream and causing adverse effects on your health.

Are you looking to shed a few pounds? If so, chewing your food properly could be your solution. As you chew properly, around twice as long as normal you will inadvertently decrease portion sizes, calorie intake, and weight loss could be a side effect!

Your stomach does not get the signal from your brain for about 20 minutes that you are full, so if you eat like I have my whole life, in 20 minutes I am long done and have overeaten many times before I realize that I am full.

I have had slow digestion and issues with constipation and realize how not chewing my food has had a negative effect on my health.

You should not be in a hurry or stressed when eating a meal. This will cause you to eat too fast and not chew your food well. Here is a great article on the importance of relaxing at each meal!

Saliva contains digestive enzymes that aid in the digestive process. The more enzymes that are exposed to the food you eat the better it is broken down. Saliva also helps lubricate your food and makes it easier on your esophagus.

Chewing is a workout for your teeth and helps keep them strong, another great reason to do some extra chewing at your next meal.

When the food you eat is not broken down properly as it enters your intestines it actually can putrefy, potentially leading to gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, cramping, and other digestive issues.

With so may suffering from digestive problems, it makes me wonder if chewing our food properly would eliminate many of these issues? A product that I recommend that contains digestive enzymes is FibRestore. If you are interested in learning more contact me.

Have you been chewing your food properly? Do you have digestive issues? leave a reply below to answer. I also challenge you to chew your way to better health for the next 90 days and report back your results!

How to get crazy motivated to work out!How to get crazy motivated to work out

You may be thinking, nothing will get me crazy motivated to work out, but I challenge you to read this article and re-think that. Working out has a list of health benefits that are virtually endless.

First of all ,working out decreases risk of heart disease.  February being heart health month this is a great time to do your heart a favor and get moving! Exercise can help lower blood pressure as well as cholesterol. I have known people to have elevated blood pressure and retake it after a workout and it have come down.

One of the biggest complaints I hear from people today is that they have no energy. Exercise will increase your energy levels. I hear people say, I am to tired to exercise, but if you just do it, then you will start to feel better and have the energy to exercise!

Cancer is something we all want to take preventative measures for. Exercise can reduce the risk of certain cancers as well as type 2 diabetes. Alzheimer’s Research Center says exercise is one of the best weapons against the Alzheimer’s.

According to Harvard Medical school psychiatrist, John Ratey, exercise is the single best thing you can do for your brain in terms of memory, mood, and learning. Exercise helps prevent Osteoporosis, reduces the risk of falling, and improves cognitive function among older adults.

A University of California study showed fewer signs of ageing in a group of women who performed 45 minutes of exercise over a 3 day period in compared with those who were inactive. If you were not already convinced for all who want to find ways to defy your age, exercise may be your answer!

Exercise also reduces the detrimental effects of stress on the body. It can help reduce symptoms of depression, in some cases as well as anti-depressants. It can also help relieve anxiety and its symptoms.

For all you married couples, that are looking for a spark in your love life, exercise can improve your sex life! This may be just the answer to get your spouses crazy motivated to exercise!

Exercise improves your moods by releasing  feel good chemicals in the brain. After a good workout you also feel a sense of accomplishment which can spill over into other areas of your life. Discipline in one area of life can result in motivation to get more accomplished in other areas of life as well.

Exercise improves your chances to live longer, and can greatly improve your quality of life. Maybe the most obvious and sometimes the biggest motivation for exercise is weight loss. Exercises raises metabolism, improves muscle tone, and sheds unwanted fat.

Consistency and hard work lead to results! I saved the best reason to exercise for last. The inspiration it can give others!

Getting fit can equip us to be better for those around us. We can be better servants for God, better spouses, parents, employees, etc…. Bottom line focus more on all reasons you need to work out and eliminate your excuses!

I hope you are crazy motivated to exercise, and you pay it forward by sharing this article with everyone you know.

Would you like Healthy Snack Ideas?

Would you like healthy snack ideas?

would you like healthy snack ideasIf you are like me then you are always looking for healthy snack ideas. As a personal trainer I have diligently sought out the tastiest healthy snacks for myself and clients.

The reason I am calling them snacks instead of meals, is because I find it more beneficial for my health and waistline to eat smaller portions. I prefer the healthy snacks to be as close to the way God created them as possible.

We all know fresh fruits and veggies are the healthiest snacks but may need ideas on ways to incorporate them. I like to make my own trail mix by adding raw nuts in a baggie with sea salt and some dried fruit for that salt and sweet mixture.Think small portions. Whatever you put in the bag you will most likley finish.

I also love chocolate and I have found a bar called Endangered species dark chocolate
that is sweetened with filtered beet sugar. I will either take a couple of squares along with some strawberries or some other fruit or add this to my trail mix.

Another healthy snack I enjoy is a called a larabar and the coconut cream pie has only 6 ingredients with no added sugar.Another one I love is kale chips. I make these myself. Take the kale, wash it and toss in a big mixing bowl with sea salt and olive oil then put on a baking sheet for around 15 minutes at 375. Play with time and temperature according to the way you like it..

My favorite healthy snacks are made with the a high powered blender. You can be creative and have fun. I use almond milk(unsweetened vanilla) as a base. Kale or spinach works really well for a green veggie. I usually ad a half of a frozen banana, 2 tablespoons of organic flaxseed, some berries, and a half of an avocado. I no longer use a nutri-bullet but this video will give you the basic idea.

Another great healthy snack idea I love is the Greens plus energy bars. When I had my health club these were a favorite with my clients. Another snack I enjoy is hummus with raw veggies. These are some of my favorite healthy snack ideas.

If you found any of these healthy snack ideas helpful please be sure to leave a comment. To your health!
