Are you feeding or Fighting Disease With Your food?

Am I feeding or fighting disease with my food? The age old wisdom of Hippocrates says “Let thy food be thy medicine”. The wisdom of our Creator in the Bible states “Genesis 1:29 “And God said Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is a fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be GOOD for food”.

It seems pretty apparent by the state of our overall health in this country that we may missing some of the wellness practices that the Bible or Hippocrates prescribed. There are multiple facets to wellness, but today I am going to focus on food choices. If you do not feel your best these days it may be time to face this question personally: am I fighting or feeding disease with my food?

How often to you consume living foods? What I mean by this is fresh fruits and veggies; foods that provide the body with valuable nutrients to assist your body in fighting sickness and disease. We can’t expect to consume primarily dead, devitalized foods and feel alive and well.

I know everyone likes simplicity. Start with drinking more water. Make sure you have plenty of clean drinking water. I recommend and personally use the Berkey water filter. Another simple step is not over-eating. This is damaging to your health and is a problem and a sin otherwise known as gluttony!

Another simple step is to add more fresh veggies and fruit to your diet. For those who claim to not have time to eat right, what is faster than picking up a clean organic apple and a handful of almonds? Make it a goal to find a way to include more veggies this week

. A salad is a great way to get an array of colorful veggies, and you can be creative and make them so delicious. Here are some of my favorite salad recipes that are very satisfying to the taste buds as well as containing valuable antioxidants known to help the body fight disease.

For most of us we know what we should do, but doing it is not always easy. I would recommend having an accountability partner. As a personal fitness trainer, I am a cheerleader to those I coach and train to help make the food choices that will assist them in reaching their goals! Just remember, friends, you do not fail unless you quit trying! Before you eat your next meal, stop and ask yourself, “Am I feeding or fighting disease with my food?” Be sure to leave a comment below and share!

To Your Health,
