Simple ways to improve heart health starts with the choices we make daily. It is your heart and your job to protect it. Heart disease is the number one killer in this country and our lifestyle choices play a huge role in reducing this risk.
One of the simple ways to improve heart health is by exercise.You only need around 3 to 4 times a week of 20-30 minutes a day to improve heart health. Cardiovascular exercise is more effective for your heart health but it is important to do both cardiovascular and strength training.
Another simple way to improve heart health is by including foods in your everyday meals that protect your ticker. Salmon is a great choice with the omegas, but be sure to choose wild caught. Another heart helpful food is flax seeds. I include these little seeds in smoothies,pancakes,cereal,oatmeal,and on salads.
I love nuts and they are suburb for improving heart health. I include raw almonds and walnuts in several of my daily meals. Eating them plain of course is fine, but be creative and put them on cereals, oatmeal,salad, and in trail mix which I give ideas for that in my healthy snack ideas article.
Potassium and magnesium are crucial for heart health. I met a lady at a place I volunteer for counsel and prayer.This lady shared a story I will not forget. She explained to me how she had been in the hospital with heart problems and had huge medical expenses hanging over her that could have been easily prevented if she had not been low on magnesium and potassium!
All I can say is a good supplement may have provided a simple way to improve her heart health and saved a lot of money to boot. I hear people all the time say they can not afford a good nutritional supplement but this is a prime example of how investing in your health could be to your benefit. Another way to improve your heart health, which some experts believe is the single most important key is lowering stress. I know this is difficult in our fast paced society, but is is crucial that you find ways to kick back and relax.
Deep breathing slows everything down and helps me to decompress. I will reiterate the importance of exercise as it contributes to stress reduction. My time in prayer and the Bible is a key factor for me as the Bible gives a great remedy for anxiety and stress in Philippians 4:6-8.
Do not put undue pressure on yourself.Say no to obligations you do not have time for and remember to slow down and enjoy each day as the gift it is.
